Pep Guardiola: Manchester City Manager Agrees to Two-Year Contract Extension.
Pep Guardiola Signs Two-Year Contract Extension with Manchester City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has agreed to a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Etihad until 2026. The 53-year-old, whose previous deal was set to expire at the end of the current season, revealed that the team’s recent struggles contributed to his decision to stay.
Guardiola, who has led City to 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League, admitted he had considered leaving next summer, particularly after a difficult four-game losing streak.
“Since the beginning of the season, I was thinking a lot,” Guardiola said on the club’s website. “There were moments when I thought this should be my last one because every year is so demanding. But during the tough period we faced last month, I felt it wasn’t the right time to leave. Walking away now would have felt like letting the club down, and I had the sense that I needed to stay.”
Reflecting on his nine seasons at the helm, Guardiola emphasized the deep connection he feels with the club: “Manchester City means so much to me. We’ve shared so many incredible moments together, and I have a really special feeling for this team and this football club.”
City fans will hope Guardiola’s renewed commitment can steer the team back to winning ways as they aim to defend their Premier League title and chase further European success.
