Chelsea’s James suffers another injury setback
Chelsea captain Reece James has suffered another injury setback and will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leicester due to a hamstring issue.
The 24-year-old right-back had only recently returned to action in October after being sidelined at the start of the season. However, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed on Thursday that James will be unavailable for the trip to the King Power Stadium.
Maresca expressed hope that the injury wouldn’t keep James out for long but emphasized the need for caution given the defender’s recent history of fitness struggles. “Reece felt something minor, and we don’t want to take any chances this weekend,” Maresca explained. “Hopefully, it’s nothing serious. It’s a muscle problem, specifically his hamstring, so we’ll monitor it closely.”
Despite James’ ongoing fitness challenges over the past two seasons, Maresca remains optimistic about the player overcoming his injury troubles in the long run.
