Barcelona duo shortlisted for La Liga Player of the Month accolade
Barcelona’s impressive seven-match winning streak ended just before the international break with a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in La Liga. The defeat was a rare blemish on what had been a strong November, marked by victories over Espanyol in the league and Crvena Zvezda in the UEFA Champions League.
This unexpected slip-up has resulted in limited representation for Barcelona in La Liga’s November awards. Notably, Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha were not nominated for the Player of the Month honor.
Two Nominees
La Liga confirmed earlier today that only one Barcelona player, Dani Olmo, is in contention for the Player of the Month award. The La Masia graduate earned his nomination thanks to a standout performance in the Catalan derby, where he scored twice against Espanyol. He is joined in the category by Vinicius Jr, Takefusa Kubo, Arnau Martinez, and Giuliano Simeone.
Additionally, Marc Casado has been shortlisted for the Best Under-23 Player award, where he is considered a strong contender. Casado will compete against Fabio Silva, Luka Sucic, Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque, and Javi Rodriguez for the honor.
Looking ahead, Barcelona will aim to return to winning ways when they face Celta Vigo later this week at the Municipal de Balaídos. They also have fixtures against Brest and Las Palmas lined up later in the month.
