‘When Has Tottenham Ever Won a Big Game?’ – Jamie Carragher Slams Ange Postecoglou’s Side After Liverpool Loss as Spurs Fail to Register a Single Shot on Target
Jamie Carragher: Liverpool’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final Win Over Tottenham Was “Never in Doubt”
Liverpool stormed into the Carabao Cup final with a commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham at Anfield on Thursday, sealing a 4-1 aggregate win. While the Reds registered 10 shots on target, Spurs failed to produce a single attempt on goal.
Following the game, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher delivered a scathing critique of Tottenham on Sky Sports, dismissing their chances even before kickoff.
What Carragher Said:
“It was never in doubt before the game. It’s Tottenham. When do Tottenham ever win a big game? When do they go anywhere, pull off a surprise, and win against the odds?” Carragher remarked.
He continued: “The odds were heavily in Liverpool’s favor. They’re at home at Anfield, the best team in the country and maybe in Europe right now. But it’s not just about this Spurs team — they never shock you or do something extraordinary. The last big game they won? Maybe that Champions League semi-final against Ajax, and even then, they were very lucky. They were dominated for most of the match.”
The defeat could further increase scrutiny on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, whose side remains in the FA Cup and Europa League but languishes in 14th place in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Liverpool advances to the Carabao Cup final, where they will face Newcastle United at Wembley. Spurs face another crucial test on Sunday, traveling to Aston Villa for the FA Cup fourth round, risking elimination from yet another competition.
