President Tinubu Congratulates Remo Stars on Historic NPFL Title, Urges Continental Success
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on their landmark triumph in the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), calling it a moment of pride for Ikenne, Ogun State, and Nigerian football at large.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the club’s impressive rise to the top of Nigerian football, just four years after their promotion to the top tier.
He applauded the players, coaching staff, and management for their dedication, discipline, and unwavering determination, noting that their championship win—following several near-misses in previous seasons—exemplifies resilience and perseverance.
“Your courage in the face of repeated setbacks is an inspiration to football clubs across the country. Your victory is a testament to the values of tenacity, hope, and hard work in the pursuit of excellence,” President Tinubu said.
He also praised the leadership and vision of Remo Stars’ owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname, whose investments in grassroots football—including the development of a modern stadium in Ikenne—have significantly contributed to sports development in Nigeria.
As newly crowned national champions, Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League. President Tinubu encouraged the team to approach the continental stage with the same determination and focus, expressing confidence in their ability to bring further glory to the nation.
He also called on Nigerian football fans to unite in support of Remo Stars as they embark on their continental journey, emphasizing that the club’s success is a shared national achievement.
