Santi Giménez Impresses with Goal in Serie A Debut as Milan Secures Victory

Mexican striker Santi Giménez made a memorable impact for AC Milan, scoring a brilliant late goal to secure a 2-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday. Portuguese star Rafael Leão also found the back of the net, helping push the Rossoneri closer to European qualification.

Giménez has wasted no time making his presence felt at Milan. In just two substitute appearances, he has been directly involved in two key goals — first assisting João Félix in a Coppa Italia clash against Roma and now scoring a decisive goal against Empoli. The home side nearly struck early when Colombo hit the post, but Milan held firm.

Milan faced an uphill battle in the 55th minute when Fikayo Tomori received a second yellow card, leaving them down to 10 men. However, Empoli’s advantage was short-lived as center-back Marianucci was sent off for kicking Giménez after play had stopped, leveling the playing field just 10 minutes later.

With more space on the pitch, Milan capitalized. Manager Conceição’s halftime substitutions, bringing on Leão, Pulisic, and Giménez, created a dynamic attacking force alongside João Félix. Leão broke the deadlock with a powerful header just minutes after Marianucci’s dismissal, putting Milan in control.

Giménez then sealed the victory with a moment of brilliance. After winning an aerial duel in midfield, he made a clever run to receive a pass from João Félix. Inside the box, he dribbled past a defender and coolly slotted the ball into the far corner with his left foot.

João Félix nearly added a third with a chipped attempt reminiscent of his debut goal, but the goalkeeper denied him. It proved unnecessary as Leão and Giménez had already secured the win.

Giménez’s contributions continue to strengthen Milan’s push for European qualification. Up next is a highly anticipated Champions League play-off showdown with Feyenoord on Wednesday.
