MATCH HIGHLIGHTS : REAL MADRID vs ALAVES | LALIGA 2024-25.
Real Madrid narrowly avoided a late collapse, securing a 3-2 victory over Deportivo Alaves in LaLiga on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Lucas Vazquez, Kylian Mbappe, and Rodrygo.
Alaves threatened a comeback with goals from Carlos Benavidez and Kike Garcia in the 88th and 89th minutes, but Real Madrid held firm to claim the win. The home side dominated much of the match, opening the scoring just over a minute in when Vinicius Jr. sprinted down the left after receiving a long pass from Federico Valverde and set up Vazquez for a close-range finish.
Despite a shaky start to the season, Real Madrid’s performance was commanding, with Vinicius, Mbappe, and Bellingham creating constant problems for the visitors. Mbappe’s 22nd-minute goal was disallowed for offside, but he made up for it in the 40th minute, combining with Bellingham for a slick one-two before slotting a composed finish past the keeper.
Rodrygo added a third just three minutes into the second half, finishing off a swift counter-attack with a low shot beneath the goalkeeper. Although Alaves capitalized on defensive errors late in the game, their rally wasn’t enough to deny Madrid the three points.
Captain Lucas Vazquez reflected on the game, telling Real Madrid TV, “It’s unfortunate that after such a strong performance, it ended like this. We were happy with the win because we played really well until those two late lapses, which forced us to suffer more than we should have. But on the bright side, we did a lot of things right.”
