Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, showcased remarkable resilience in the fourth quarter of their AfroBasket 2025 qualifier in Tripoli, securing an emphatic 87-67 victory over Uganda.

Despite trailing at halftime after losing the first two quarters 16-12 and 18-16, D’Tigers staged a spirited comeback in the third quarter, edging Uganda 27-25.

However, it was in the final quarter that Nigeria delivered a dominant performance, outscoring Uganda 32-8 in a stunning display rarely seen in African basketball, sealing the win at the Grand Hall in Tripoli.

With their final group game against Cape Verde today, the victory has reignited Nigeria’s hopes of advancing, as D’Tigers now sit level on seven points with both Uganda and Cape Verde.

Earlier on Friday, D’Tigers also secured a hard-fought 75-70 win over hosts Libya, overcoming an early deficit to claim victory in their Group B opener.

Trailing 15-14 after the first quarter and 20-18 in the second, Nigeria fought back to take the third quarter 20-16 before sealing the win with a 23-19 fourth-quarter performance.
