Mbappé and Julián Álvarez Find the Net as Madrid Derby Ends in 1-1 Draw
Kylian Mbappé marked his first Madrid derby with a crucial goal as Real Madrid secured a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, maintaining their narrow lead at the top of La Liga.
Julián Álvarez opened the scoring for Atletico with a penalty in the 35th minute, but Mbappé leveled the match five minutes into the second half.
Real Madrid came close to finding a winner, with Jude Bellingham hitting the crossbar and Jan Oblak making key saves to deny Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, and Mbappé.
Despite the draw, Madrid remains one point ahead of Atletico, while Barcelona trails five points behind in third place ahead of their Sunday clash with Sevilla.
This was Mbappé’s first appearance in the Madrid derby, having missed the 1-1 draw in September due to injury.
