Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer suffered a calf injury while celebrating Jamal Musiala’s goal against Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League first leg. Despite Bayern’s dominant 3-0 lead, Neuer had to be substituted in the 58th minute after tearing a muscle fiber in his right calf.
Reports suggest he will miss 3-4 matches, including the return leg next week. Manager Vincent Kompany confirmed the injury occurred during the celebration, saying, “It looks like his calf, but we will have to see now.”
Kompany expressed confidence in his team’s ability to cope, noting, “We have talent in our team to continue,” and praised debutant Jonas Urbig, who will step in as goalkeeper for the upcoming fixtures.
