Kylian Mbappe Criticized for ‘Shocking’ Tackle Against Real Madrid as Lengthy Ban Looms Before Arsenal Clash.

Latest Arsenal News: Mbappe Slammed for ‘Disgusting’ Challenge Ahead of Champions League Second Leg

Arsenal are preparing to face Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final next week, but the French star has come under fire for a reckless challenge in the lead-up to the clash.

The 26-year-old was shown a straight red card during Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Alaves after a dangerous tackle on Antonio Blanco. Replays, reviewed by VAR, showed Mbappe planting his studs into the inside of Blanco’s shin in a mid-pitch incident. Eduardo Camavinga’s first-half goal sealed a narrow 1-0 win for Real in a match marred by two red cards and multiple bookings.

The challenge drew widespread condemnation. Arsenal supporter and TV presenter Piers Morgan took to social media, posting a clip of the tackle with the caption: “Disgusting ‘tackle’ by Mbappe… vicious intent and could have broken the guy’s leg. Red card should be the very least of his punishment.”

ESPN pundit Craig Burley was equally scathing, calling the tackle “horrendous” and “disgraceful.” He added, “That’s almost a career-ending challenge… the fact Blanco’s foot wasn’t planted probably saved him.”

Despite the severity of the foul, Mbappe’s suspension will only apply to domestic fixtures, meaning he remains eligible for the Champions League and will be available for the return leg against Arsenal.

The Gunners carry a commanding 3-0 lead into the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to two goals from Declan Rice and one from Mikel Merino in the first leg at the Bernabeu.
