Kate Scott and Jalal Bouzrara Set to Host 2024 CAF Awards on Monday
The 2024 CAF Awards, a celebration of African football excellence, will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday. The event will honour the continent’s top footballing talents from the past year and will be hosted by two prominent presenters, Kate Scott and Jalal Bouzrara.
CAF announced the hosts in a press release titled “Kate Scott and Jalal Bouzrara to Present 2024 CAF Awards.”
Kate Scott, a renowned sports broadcaster, boasts an impressive résumé with work spanning CNN, Sky Sports, and CBS Sports. Fluent in four languages, she has hosted major international events like the FIFA Ballon d’Or and the Laureus World Sports Awards. Most recently, she gained acclaim for her role on CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage.
Sharing her excitement about hosting the awards, Scott said:
“It will be a privilege to be on stage and in the room alongside some of the most influential names in football. African football gives the global game soul. The talent born there is immense, and the culturally diverse way it is lived from nation to nation makes football one of the heartbeats of the global game.”
Joining her is Jalal Bouzrara, a veteran Moroccan journalist with over 30 years of experience in radio and television. Bouzrara, known for producing acclaimed sports programmes such as L’Match and L’Club, will co-host the ceremony for the second time, having previously hosted the 2022 CAF Awards in Rabat.
Expressing his pride in returning, Bouzrara remarked:
“This is the second time I have had the honour and privilege of hosting this magnificent CAF Awards ceremony. You only have to look at the list of nominees for this 2024 edition in Marrakech to see the constant evolution of African football, with its stars shining brightly across the world.”
This year’s ceremony will spotlight exceptional performances and contributions to football across Africa. Among the nominees on the men’s shortlist are standout stars like Achraf Hakimi, Ademola Lookman, Serhou Guirassy, Simon Adingra, and Inaki Williams, promising a night to remember for African football.
In related news, CAF announced that its Executive Committee will convene on the same day, 16 December 2024, in Marrakech. The meeting, chaired by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, will begin at 09:30 local time (08:30 GMT/10:30 Cairo time) and focus on key topics, including the 2025 CAF calendar.
Following the Executive Committee meeting, a gathering of the 54 CAF Member Association Presidents, the CAF EXCO, and Dr. Motsepe will take place at 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT/12:00 Cairo time).
As the stage is set for the 2024 CAF Awards, anticipation continues to build for a night that will celebrate Africa’s indelible contribution to global football.
