EPL: Leicester’s Struggles Continue After Heavy 4-0 Loss to Brentford

Leicester’s Relegation Fears Deepen After Crushing 4-0 Defeat to Brentford

Leicester’s hopes of avoiding Premier League relegation hit a new low as Brentford secured a dominant 4-0 victory at the King Power Stadium on Friday.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side had the chance to climb out of the drop zone with a win but remain two points from safety after a disastrous first half saw Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, and Christian Norgaard all find the net. Fabio Carvalho added a late fourth, as the Foxes suffered their 10th defeat in 11 league games, intensifying pressure on their under-fire manager.

Leicester also made unwanted history, becoming the first Premier League team to lose six consecutive home games without scoring. With just 12 matches left, they face the growing threat of an immediate return to the Championship.

Since Enzo Maresca’s departure for Chelsea after guiding Leicester’s promotion, the club has struggled to find stability. Steve Cooper lasted just five months before being sacked, and Van Nistelrooy has failed to turn things around, winning only two of his 15 matches in charge.

Leicester’s problems were evident early on as Jamie Vardy was denied by Brentford keeper Mark Flekken. Brentford then punished the hosts ruthlessly, with Wissa’s 17th-minute strike setting the tone. Mbeumo doubled the lead with a superb curling effort, and Norgaard’s header made it 3-0 by the 32nd minute, prompting some fans to leave early.

Brentford nearly added to Leicester’s misery when Kristoffer Ajer hit the post before Carvalho sealed the rout in the 89th minute.

With time running out, Leicester’s survival hopes are fading fast, leaving Van Nistelrooy under increasing scrutiny.
