Crystal Palace SHOCK Brighton to Extend Unbeaten Run

Ismaila Sarr scored twice in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 victory over Brighton, extending the Eagles’ unbeaten run to five matches. Sarr found the net in both halves, while Trevoh Chalobah also scored for Oliver Glasner’s side, who secured back-to-back away wins.

Palace took control early, scoring twice in a six-minute span in the first half. Chalobah opened the scoring in scrappy fashion, with Sarr doubling their lead moments later with a header from Tyrick Mitchell’s cross.

Brighton, who were repeatedly denied by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, dominated possession after the break. However, Sarr’s second goal, eight minutes from time, sealed the win and handed Fabian Hurzeler’s side their first home defeat of the season.

Marc Guehi’s unfortunate own goal in the 87th minute offered Brighton a late consolation, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat. Palace, who move up to 15th in the table, are now five matches unbeaten. Brighton, sitting in ninth, struggled to break down Palace’s defense, despite Henderson’s early save against Kaoru Mitoma.

The match began with Palace making their goalkeeper’s work count in the 27th minute. Will Hughes’ corner, which ricocheted off Jan Paul van Hecke and Sarr, allowed Chalobah to fire home from close range. Sarr’s header soon doubled their lead, following a well-executed cross from Mitchell.

Guehi’s own goal was the second in this fixture’s Premier League history, with the first being Joachim Andersen’s own goal in January 2022. Brighton has kept just one clean sheet in their last 14 Premier League meetings with Palace (W4 D6 L4), and have won only one of their last ten league games against London sides (D2 L7).

This victory marked Crystal Palace’s first win over Brighton since February 2021, breaking a six-match winless streak against them (D4 L2). All of the Eagles’ last three Premier League victories over Brighton have come away from home.
