Conceição Optimistic About Milan Revival Following Another Comeback Victory.
AC Milan manager Sergio Conceição is confident that his team is on the verge of turning their season around, praising their resilience following a thrilling 2-1 win over Como at home on Saturday.
The victory marked Milan’s second consecutive Serie A comeback, following their 3-2 triumph at Lecce last week, which came after three straight league defeats and a prolonged period of inconsistent form.
Currently sitting seventh in the table, Milan is fighting to climb the standings and secure a Champions League spot for next season.
“I see a group that truly wants to succeed and is giving everything,” Conceição told reporters. “There’s an incredible desire to turn this moment and Milan’s season around.”
Milan struggled in the first half, as Como created several chances before and after taking the lead. However, in the second half, the hosts dominated, turning the match around with goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic.
“There were some good moments, but also some not-so-good ones,” the Portuguese manager said. “We started well, then conceded, and doubts crept into the players’ minds. It happens. We were too deep, and our pressing wasn’t well executed.”
“In the second half, we did well to exploit Como’s weaknesses. You can see clearly in the goals we scored that it’s what we worked on. This break is important.”
FIRST-HALF STRUGGLES
Pulisic, who scored the winning goal, admitted he didn’t know why Milan has struggled in the first half of games recently.
“I can’t give you a reason,” he said. “We want to start stronger, but I don’t know why we’re having these issues in the first half. The important thing is we do better in the second.”
“We have to stay positive because we’ve won two games in a row. We have the chance to get where we want, but we’re taking it game by game.”
