Barça sweep top awards at Golden Boy Gala.

Lamine Yamal and Vicky López were unable to travel to Turin for the Golden Boy Gala but shared their joy live from the Ciutat Esportiva, celebrating their latest accolades. The 2024 Golden Boy Gala turned into a true blaugrana affair, with the winners announced on November 27 and the official ceremony held on Monday in Turin.

Although neither could attend in person, both FC Barcelona stars addressed Italian sports outlet Tuttosport via live messages from the Ciutat Esportiva pressroom.

Vicky López, focused on an upcoming UWCL clash against Manchester City at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, expressed her delight: “I am very happy to win this award, and I hope to continue enjoying my football … I have loved this sport for as long as I can remember.”

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal, who will miss a few weeks due to an ankle injury, added: “I can feel the love from the fans, and winning awards like this makes me very happy … I don’t think about my age. I just want to play … I dream about winning titles at Barça, and hopefully, we can lift the Champions League this year.”

Ahead of Barça’s match against Leganés on Sunday, Federico Vincenzoni, Chief Executive Officer of Tuttosport, presented the Golden Boy trophy to Yamal, receiving a rousing ovation.

Aitana Bonmatí added to Barça’s success, once again winning the Golden Player Woman award, as she did last year. In her message, she said: “I’m very happy to win this prize, and I’m sorry I can’t be there, but we have an important Champions League game. As I always say, this individual award belongs to the whole team because without my teammates, I wouldn’t have achieved any of this.”

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta also contributed a video message, highlighting the significance of these honors during Barça’s 125th anniversary year. While unable to attend due to other sporting and institutional commitments, Laporta expressed his pride in the achievements of Lamine Yamal, Vicky López, and Aitana Bonmatí.
