Amorim declares Man Utd’s season finished following Tottenham loss.

Ruben Amorim has written off Manchester United’s season after yet another Premier League defeat.

The Red Devils fell 1-0 to Tottenham on Sunday in an open contest where they squandered multiple chances. Alejandro Garnacho’s glaring first-half miss epitomized United’s struggles, and Amorim was left frustrated as his side failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

James Maddison’s early goal proved enough for Spurs, who themselves were guilty of wasteful finishing. The result marked United’s third defeat in four league matches, dropping them to 15th in the table, while Tottenham climbed to 12th.

Despite holding a 12-point cushion above the relegation zone, Amorim remains under pressure, continuing his unenviable record as the club’s worst post-Sir Alex Ferguson head coach.

Amorim admits season is lost

While maintaining the usual rhetoric of “fighting until the end,” the Portuguese manager sounded defeated post-match, conceding that his job is “so, so hard here.”

Though United remain in both the FA Cup and Europa League, Amorim all but admitted the season is a write-off. “We have to be together to finish the season and start over,” he stated, hinting at a fresh start beyond the current campaign.

Asked about his job security, Amorim deflected: “The place in the table is my worry, I am not worried about me.”

He also lamented how what was supposed to be a valuable nine-day break quickly turned into a disaster, with key injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo—ruling the latter out for the season—forcing a tactical rethink.

“We had time to work on our principles, but every day we lost players, which changed our approach,” Amorim said. “I could not play the same way with Joshua [Zirkzee] as I can with Amad. I have a lot of problems, but I stick with my beliefs.”
