João Félix desires to remain at AC Milan: What lies ahead after his loan spell?
João Félix Expresses Desire to Stay at AC Milan Beyond Loan Spell
Portuguese international João Félix was officially unveiled as an AC Milan player on Monday, February 10. During his first press conference, the forward hinted at his wish to extend his stay with the Rossoneri beyond his current loan, drawing inspiration from club legend Kaká.
His exit from Chelsea left little room for speculation about his future with the English side. When questioned about Félix’s absence after Chelsea’s FA Cup elimination, coach Enzo Maresca made it clear that the Blues had no regrets and were content seeing the Portuguese forward thrive in Milan. With Stamford Bridge no longer an option, Félix’s loan move to Milan has provided him with a fresh platform to showcase his talent, much like his stint at FC Barcelona last season, where a permanent transfer was considered but hindered by financial limitations.
“I’m on loan until June, so we’ll see what happens. For now, I’m enjoying everything—the club, the people, the facilities. They have welcomed my family and me warmly. I feel comfortable here, but we all know how quickly things can change in football. If there’s a chance to stay at Milan, I would love it,” Félix shared during his presentation.
Beyond seeking stability, Félix’s admiration for Kaká further fuels his desire to remain at Milan. “He is my all-time favorite player. I never spoke to him about coming here, but I met him once in the United States. He’s an idol—I can’t compare myself to him, but I would love to achieve what he did at Milan,” he admitted. Kaká remains a beloved figure among Rossoneri fans, particularly for leading the club to Champions League glory in 2006-07 and winning the Ballon d’Or that same year.
While Félix acknowledges the difficulty of reaching Kaká’s legendary status, he remains determined. “Every player dreams of performing at the highest level, but if things don’t go as planned, persistence is key,” he stated.
Having already made a strong impression by scoring on his Milan debut in the Coppa Italia on February 5, Félix appears to have found an ideal environment to reignite his career. Now, under the guidance of his compatriot Sérgio Conceição, who played a crucial role in bringing him to the club, he hopes to establish himself as a vital figure in Milan’s long-term project.
