Pep Guardiola Reveals He Will Take a Break After Leaving Manchester City — Retirement a Possibility

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he plans to take a break from football once his time at Manchester City comes to an end — and has not ruled out retirement altogether.

Speaking ahead of City’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Friday, the legendary manager reflected on his legacy, saying he isn’t concerned with how he’ll be remembered but hopes fans have enjoyed watching his teams over the years.

“I want people to remember me however they want,” Guardiola said. “After my contract with City, I’m going to stop — I’m sure. I don’t know if I’ll retire, but I will take a break. How I want to be remembered? I don’t know. All coaches want to win so their work is remembered, but I believe fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and City have had fun watching my teams. We shouldn’t live worrying about how we’ll be remembered.”

Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City earlier this season, keeping him at the Etihad until 2027. Despite a less-than-ideal league campaign this year, he remains focused on rebuilding the squad to compete at the highest level once again.

City face Wolves on Friday night and travel to Southampton next weekend. They also have the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace in mid-May, offering a chance to end the season on a high note.
